We're Off and Running!

It was so great to get to know your children last week. We are going to have a spectacular year together! Here are some things we did last week...

After reading Do Unto Otters we talked about our R.O.C.K. rules for our classroom.  Then, the students came up with their own R.O.C.K. rules for the hallways, recess, and lunchroom. 

We talked about math tools and how we need to use them the correct way.  They are not meant to be toys. We then did a sort with math tools and toys.

As a class, we brainstormed what mathematicians do.  We found out that we are all mathematicians!

Each student colored a puzzle piece.  As a table group, they had to work together to form their puzzle pieces into a letter.  As a class, we formed "We Rock."

We read Stand Tall, Molly Lou Melon and talked about how we are all special and need to be proud of who we are. (I apologize for the blurry pictures.)

We will be starting our language arts and math curriculum and standards this week.  Don't forget about our Back to School Night on Thursday, September 6th.  Please meet in the gymnasium at 5:00 p.m.
